Engagement Party
My parents threw us an Engagement Party, and we were lucky enough to have John’s parents join us as well! The house was so beautifully decorated! We also spent the weekend hiking Diamond Head, being tourists, and fishing on Monday!! Posted some new pics – take a look in the Picture Gallery!

The Juicy Stuff: How It Happened
I bet you all are dying to hear how he proposed. Well, how about we start with how he didn’t. John’s original plan was to have his parents fly over for a surprise visit, and then do a very traditional asking-for-your-daughter’s-hand-in-marriage-with-both-side’s-parents-present type of thing… As most of you know, no one in my family can keep secrets for very long. He told my mom, and my mom told my dad, and my dad blurted it out in front of me while we were watching TV. Okay, plan #1 = failed. On to plan #2. Purchase a package of Reese Peanut Butter Cups (they’re my favorite candy), cut a hole in the middle of one, place engagement ring in the hole, reseal. Problems: too messy, and Fiona might eat it. Plan #2 = failed. On to plan #3 (third time’s the charm, right?). It was the Monday before Valentine’s Day, and we were at home watching our normal evening shows: The Big Bang Theory & How I Met Your Mother. John suddenly steals my “trainer ring” and starts stepping on my stomach, trying to make me feel the urge to use the bathroom. That didn’t work until 20 minutes later. I run to the bathroom during a commercial break, and rushed back as to not miss the episode. John kinda sat there with a confused look on his face. I didn’t think anything of it. After the show, he said to take a shower, so off I go. This time, I turn on the lights to the bedroom (on my previous trip, I ran straight to the bathroom without switching on the lights). And there it was on the bed. No, not the box. The Wedding Ring Shop bag, with the box inside. I knew it was empty, but I looked anyways — a girl can always hope, right? I just figured it was another of his teasing tricks again (he does that a lot). So I shower, and come out. Now I don’t have my contacts or glasses on, so I can’t see very well. The bag is still on the bed, so me being all hopeful goes back to look in the empty box again. Then I hear him say, “Look, I found it!” I turn around, and all I saw was him as a blurry mess holding something. I walk closer to him and spotted THE SHINY!! John does this thing called the “air shiny” where he pretends to be holding my ring and slipping it on (or trying to take it off) my finger. This time he did it with the real thing. At first, I thought it was another teasing session he had planned — I expected him to pull the ring away as I tried to slip it on……… but he didn’t!! And there it sat on my finger. Sparkly… oh so sparkly!! Yeah, I didn’t get much sleep that night, and I was still giddy for the next 4 days. Hahaha! And that’s the story!! And here are the pictures!!
